Usage Instructions 

  1. Zeroing: Rest the base against a verified flat reference surface and check that the indicator lines up perfectly with the zero graduation. 
  2. Fillet Leg Length: Place the flat base securely on the metal plate and move the indicator tip until it touches the toe of the weld. 
  3. Weld Reinforcement: Straddle the base over the weld joint and drop the pointer down until it makes explicit contact with the weld's crown. 
  4. Undercut Depth: Gently insert the sharp tip of the pointer into the groove next to the weld toe to determine the depth of the flaw. 
  5. Preparation Bevel Angle: Set the angled side of the gauge squarely against the beveled section of the plate to verify the joint's angle.
